Results of the Membership Incentives Announced at the State Convention 2006

I send my personal greetings to all of the Alabama State Council Family. At the Convention I announced incentives for membership recruitment for certain achievements during the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year. Father McGivney relics are to be given to the Grand Knight and Membership Director of each council who: had the most net new members during May, 2006; had the most net new members during June, 2006; had the most net new members for the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year; and finally, had the highest percentage gain in net new members for the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year. The relics have been ordered and it is our hope to award them at the regional meetings scheduled for August and September, 2006.

The winners of each category are as follows:

  • Most net new members during May, 2006; Council 11537, Hoover, Prince of Peace, Grand Knight Bill Clements, Membership Director Michael N. Miller with a net gain of six new members.

  • Most net new members during June, 2006; Tie between Council 7584, Hoover, St. Peter the Apostle, Grand Knight Steve D'Amico, Membership Director Terrell W. Richie and Council 9550, Montevallo, St. Thomas the Apostle, Grand Knight Bill Drescher, Membership Director Jose I. Barbosa. Each council had a net gain of five new members.

  • Most net new members for the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year; Council 11537, Hoover, Prince of Peace, Grand Knight Bill Clements, Membership Director Michael N. Miller with a net gain of 19 new members.

  • Highest percentage gain in net new members for the 2005 - 2006 fraternal year; Council 3227, Anniston, Father William H. Zinn, Grand Knight Cal Seales, Membership Director Jack D. Thrasher with a gain of 14 net new members of 280%.

Congratulations to all these councils and to their leaders and individual members for their efforts toward recruiting new members and offering membership in the Knights of Columbus to their fellow Catholic brothers.

I know that the Alabama State Council will have a great year under the leadership of State Deputy Eddie Lipscomb and particularly in the area of membership under the leadership of Milton O. Larche, Jr., PSD, FVSM. I look forward to working with these fine Brother Knights and with each of you as we strive to elevate the Alabama State Council to the position of prominence that it deserves.

Finally, I thank you for the confidence you have placed in me in electing me to the position of State Warden. I promise to work to earn your continued confidence.

Vivat Jesus,
