Pro-life Chairman Remarks
Worthy
Brothers,
As we begin
this fraternal year I would like to give you some of my thoughts as Pro-Life
Chairman. There are many Pro-Life causes that deserve our support as individuals
and as an organization. Many of us are active at a local or parish level. I will
try to keep each council aware of activities and organizations that need our
support.
Many people in
the US may be indifferent or minimally supportive of many Pro-Life issues like
feeding the poor, providing shelter for the homeless, visiting the sick and many
more, and these issues need our support in many ways. However, we must keep in
mind that there are three key Pro-Life issues, abortion, euthanasia and capitol
punishment, that have a large number of people opposed to the Pro-Life stand. No
one advocates letting the poor starve or the homeless being kept from shelter.
However, there are people that advocate killing in the guise “right to choose”
of “justice” or in the name of “mercy”. Therefore, these three issues need our
special support.
I will be in
touch with each council soon requesting information and suggestions. I ask your
prayers that I may serve our church and the Knights of Columbus in this very
important area.
Fraternally,
Frank Y. Johnson
