State Deputy Remarks
Worthies All:
Thank you for a fairly successful
October Blitz, I believe that as we become more accustomed to having the Oct.
and Mar. Blitz's we will see the benefit and become much more successful in this
program. Please be sure to contact all candidates that expressed interest in our
Order and schedule 1st degrees soon to bring these candidates into your
councils. I also encourage all councils to select their 10 "Stars"; remember
these are the 10 most active Knights in your council and the members that have
the most to gain from a successful recruiting year. Let them be the team leaders
for recruiting and retention purposes and your council will reap the benefit of
their expertise and energy.
The theme for the remainder of the
year will be "In Solidarity with Our Priest". This was the theme of Past Supreme
Knight Virgil Dechant and is being resurrected for the remainder of the 2006
fraternal year. In keeping with this theme I will ask that all First Degree's
schedule from Jan 1, 2007 to June 30, 2007 be in honor of a council chaplain,
parish Priest or Bishop/Archbishop. This is the time to show our Solidarity with
the Priesthood and our clergy.
In March of 2007 our Order will
celebrate it's 125th anniversary and to commemorate this date I am asking that
our March Blitz be called "Now is the Hour of the Knights of Columbus" and be
held the weekend of March 24-25, 2007. All councils and districts should begin
planning for this event and should consider including a "Priest Appreciation"
reception to coincide this important date in our Orders history.
Finally I would like to share with
you the States mission statement for this fraternal year:
We the Alabama State
Council hereby resolve to rededicate ourselves to the Blessed Mother and
to continue to pray Her Rosary as often as possible,
We also resolve to make God
present in the people we serve by living Deus Caritas Est (God Is Love),
the first encyclical of Pope Benedict.
Vivat Jesus
